This Barber Colman model 16-56 is an excellent machine to hob splines on
long shafts in the Horizontal position. It is equipped with the optional
Differential mechanism allowing you to cut helical gears as well by allowing
you to have the hob and work piece stay in mesh when needing to check size
and go back in for a second cut or finish cut.
